Hello!

I'm Chloe - the face behind Blossom and Root Midwifery.

I'm so glad you found me in my little corner of the internet - you are so welcome here!

My mission is to make sure every family that leaves my care leaves feeling supported, held, uplifted and prepared for parenthood, no matter the circumstance.

My Story

My journey into midwifery began as a teenage dream. At 19 I told anyone who’d listen that one day I’d be a midwife, though I had no idea how I’d get there. I started an Access course when I was 20 but paused my studies when I became pregnant with my first child.

My pregnancy and birth were tough, and I often felt judged or dismissed by midwives because of my age. After a difficult first birth (and two more equally challenging births after that), I knew I wanted to be the kind of midwife who truly listens and supports families.

When my youngest child was 12 months old, I decided it was now or never. I returned to college, completed my Access course with top marks and went on to study midwifery at university, where I loved learning but also had my eyes opened to the pressures and limitations of the maternity system and its impact on both birthing families and midwives alike.

As a qualified midwife, I worked across the unit but community midwifery is where I found my place. I built connections with families and I valued continuity of care, but the demands of the NHS made it hard to practice in the way I’d always dreamed of.

Through my own experiences of navigating the maternity system and observing the families I cared for, I came to see just how vital antenatal education is. Too often, birth seemed to be something that happened to women, rather than an experience they felt informed and in control of. I knew that if people could be supported to understand their choices and feel prepared, they could approach birth with confidence instead of fear.

Over time, I realised the role I loved so much was also taking a toll on my mental and physical health but I couldn't stand the thought of leaving midwifery altogether. That’s when I knew where I wanted to focus my energy and skills - supporting families with the knowledge, tools and encouragement they need to step into parenthood empowered. So I took the leap into a different way of working earlier this year and created Blossom and Root Midwifery!

Blossom and Root really is my fourth baby. Anyone that knows me personally knows that I'm fiercely passionate about all things pregnancy/birth/parenting/midwifery related. I eat, sleep, breathe my job - there is no separation of church and state, but I wouldn't have it any other way; I truly believe supporting women and birthing people is what I was meant to do and I always strive to make sure this shines through in my work.
